Why Dead Space is a great game
Isaac aboard the USG Ishimura
Dead Space, originally released in 2008, was recently remade from the ground up, with those classic thrills being back and better than ever thanks to the latest generation of hardware.
There are several reasons why Dead Space is considered one of the survival-horror pioneers, with many features that still feel innovative to this day, and thanks to the Dead Space remake, we can have all those features,
while simultaneously trimming away the archaic design choices.
Why is Dead Space so great you ask? Well here are a few specifics:
- Everything in the game is diagetic, meaning no weird health bars or UI cluttering the screen, making the whole experience more immersive
- Expansive lore, even having it's own fictional relgion (Unitology); see just a taste here
- Fascinating monsters; everything from their physical appearance to their in depth biology, you really get to know what your up against
- next level sound design has you on edge at all times, with a dynamic soundtrack & heartbeat, along with ever-present ambiance
- fun weaponry; Being on a mining ship means your weaponry is unorthodox, which also means that what ever you'll be using will offer a unique, viceral experience
